Cannot WAIT to do the same next summer. The perfect house. Already referred to others
Phinney Garden Cottage lived up to its description, although the gardens were even more attractive than anticipated. The upstairs was a perfect area for our 4 and 1 1/2 year old grandchildren to play when they came to visit. The location was convenient for us, a quick walk to the grocery store and restaurants, and less than a mile from our son and family. If our son stays in the area, we will return to Phinney Garden Cottage.
What a great little house. Good location and access to public transportation. But bring your own pillows the ones there need to be more comfortable.
Thank you for your comments! We are glad to hear you enjoyed your stay at the cottage in Phinney Ridge. We have recently replaced all the pillows in the house with hypo-allergenic high density pillows, and do so with all of our properties on an as-needed basis. Again, we thank you for bringing this to our attention!
We stayed for a month here and the bus access to MT5 was easy 1 minute walk to go downtown. There is also very easy access to stores and a grocery store, library, etc.The owner was wonderful and installed a baby gate for us at the top of the stairs it was not an easy normal opening. Even though our toddler is used to using stairs at home, this gave us tremendous piece of mind as the stairs here are VERY steep as it is an older house.I also loved that there were lots of towels. There was way more than we needed, but was great when we had guests come and stay with us. We did not have to count out towels for everyone. We would definitely recommend staying here.
Our family of four had a great time staying in Phinney Garden Cottage. The house was comfortable and well-appointed. The only thing missing was clocks in the bedrooms. We ended up buying an inexpensive one for the upstairs bedroom as the kids couldn't sleep without one. Would stay again if we get back to Seattle.
It was cramped for sleeping 5 adults, and needs a second bathroom. We loved all the other amenities, however. Front and back porches are wonderful features.
We had a wonderful stay in Seattle at the cottage. The location is great, close to shops, restaurants, parks and a very easy drive to downtown Seattle. The cottage itself is very well equipped and comfortable for a family of 4.
The Phinney Garden Cottage was a great place to stay. Second floor is an attic like space where you must watch you head.Greenwood Car Show was held the weekend we were there and provided an extra entertainment bonus. Cottage is close enough for lake, park and city walks and very quiet at night to rest up.Grandma, grandson and two parents did quite nicely for the week.
Great place to stay and a perfect location. Ideal Northwest craftsman cottage. What's bad? Owner lives next door and will appear out of nowhere to water garden...kind of too much. Bathroom celing and upstairs ideal for those under six feet in height.A few key things needed repair.
Phinney Garden Cottage was a dream come true. We stayed 5 nights in May, had beautiful weather, and loved the garden! The cottage is in great shape, and had lots of character. The space is comfortable and charmingly decorated. We made great use of the kitchen and found it equipped with everything we needed. The barbecue was excellent as well. We loved the neighborhood, and enjoyed being on the ridge with a view east and west. The local shops and restaurants are great! Such easy access! Bus line to downtown super convenient. Parking easily available. Easy freeway access, close to Ballard and Fremont and Green Lake. We couldn't have asked for more. Very very tall people (over 6'3") would have a hard time with the shower, but my brother managed, and he is 6'1". All the beds are very comfortable, especially the pull out couch. Our experience was better than perfect.
Came to Seattle for a reason and found a gem of a place to stay. Thanks for everything! We will be back!
We couldn't have asked for more comfort in a home away from home. As a couple with teen kids, we needed a convenient, private retreat while visiting relatives in Seattle. The Cottage gave us walking distance to family, all the amenities of Phinney Ridge including the excellent Beauty College located 10 blocks North. We especially appreciated the thoughtful, simple furnishings within this ultra-clean house. The upstairs bedroom is tight, but functional for kids. We will be back.
I could not find all the recycling bins at one house and none at the other. (We rented two houses this time.)It was a very minor complication. This was the second time I have rented from the agency and everything was really perfect.
The Phinney Garden Cottage made for a relaxing vacation and easy access to coffee shops, boutiques, markets, restaurants and even a zoo! The cottage was complete with all the conveniences of home - all you had to do was pack your luggage! Thank you Sea to Sky for a wonderful stay. We'll be back.
I banged my head too many times in the upstairs second bedroom, but it was perfect for our infant daughter. I'd put shades on the windows upstairs, and get a real cutting board that is large enough to be truly usable. Otherwise everything else was really great. We loved the price, location, and the look of the house, especially the front porch and light-filled kitchen.
GREAT view from the breakfast table
Phinney Garden Cottage is a charming place, so nicely appointed and a fantastice location for the things we wanted to do in the downtown and university area. We would definitely stay here again.
It was wonderful little home. Sea to Sky Rentals is a great company to deal with. I will definatley go there again.
Great location - close to neighborhood restaurants, boutiques, and shops.
We loved our stay in the house. The home, the furnishings, the neighborhood were all just what we wanted. We walked to dinner and the store, did our errands in the neighborhood, quick and easy access to downtown Seattle all made for a perfect stay.
The house was perfect for our Seattle visit for a wedding.... cute garden, old-fashioned charm inside. Our kids loved the upstairs/loft area .. it was like their own hideout! The house slept four adults and two kids just fine.
Great location for us as we have family living nearby. Bus stop a block away for access into the city as well as the local shops (Ken's supermarket round the corner was great). Re the accomodation itself, it was clean and we had everything we needed, furniture/beds etc all comfortable and decor was good. House overall is a bit creaky in places (more just added character as it is over 100 years old afterall) and a very small back garden for the children but pretty flower beds and a quiet location. The children loved the converted roof space bedroom although the adults had a few bumped heads! Main negative was the parking, we hired a full size car and only one side of the street can be parked on and as such you normally had to park a block away from the house, when after a full day out and 2 young children it was a bit frustrating. The other gripe was the antique toilet - looked nice but had to occasionally keep standing on a chair to adjust the cistern to get the water to fill up - minor gripes overall as really enjoyed the stay and didn't detract from the wonderful holiday we had. Would definitely use Sea to Sky again to book a property but will probably try a different property ourselves mostly because of the parking/tired children walking up hill..
Suggestions: First, improve the bathroom. The bathtub is difficult to get in and out of for older people, and this could be dangerous. Secondly, there is no hair dryer in the bathroom. Finally, there is a leaky drain in the sink causing water to drain onto the wooden floorboards. If you do remodel the bathroom, the present lighting is too direct for such a small space. Lastly, the sound on the television does not work on all stations.
This cottage was just perfect for our stay--just an adult couple. It could work if you had one or two small but not really young children with you (steep steps to upstairs). We used the upstairs to store luggage. Lots to do in the neighborhood and close to much more by car. The only inconvenience to us was the lack of parking. There is only parking on one side of the street and if you are returning later in the evening, you might have to walk a block--we always found parking within this distance. We would definitely rent the cottage again.
there were a few things about the house that were a little dangerous for our 2 toddlers. both screen doors were torn and there were very loose boards on the porch and bathroom floor. other than that it was a good stay.
Loved the neighborhood and enjoyed staying in the cute little cottage that was very "Seattle". Great coffee shops and restaurants within walking distance. Upstairs room is GREAT for kids, and the place has nice outdoor space. This is definitely a cottage and not fancy, but clean and tasteful and great for a more comfortable stay than would be possible in a cramped hotel room. We would stay here again if in the area and would highly recommend the cottage itself for families, and the neighborhood in general for anyone.
Worked well for four. A little tight for 5. Will use again.
We had a very pleasant stay and our twins (6 year olds)enjoyed having the attic/secondfloor to themselves. Nice yard with covered porch and lush landscaping etc. Nice neighborhood with fun restaurants, pubs and cafés. I have already recommended the cottage to a couple of friends. Clean linens, nice beds, complete kitchen and fun bathroom with clawfoot tub etc..
We did not like the fact that there was very limited parking.
The description, pictures and virtual tour on the internat where very usefull. At arrival, we found exactly what whe expected. What was top: we found in the kitchen, living, bath and bedrooms really everything we needed (actually more that that:-).WLAN functioned w/o any problem and was included in the price.
We had a pretty nice stay in December and had hoped to stay there again for three weeks this summer but the price goes up so much, it was out of the question.
A very quiet and lovely neighborhood. I slept in the upstairs room so my daughter and grandson could sleep on the main floor. The heat vent in their bedroom was not working and my 22 month old grandson caught a nasty cold as a result, kinda dampened the week. The upstairs is cute for maybe 6 - 10 year olds. I banged my head at least 3 or 4 times on the low ceilings! The house was nicely furnished, though I was disappointed that there was no coffee bean a home in Seattle! LOL I would also suggest they put in at least one larger fry pan, hard cooking in an 8 inch peeling teflon pan. All in all, if it were just me, I'd rent it again!
Thank you for your feedback on the quaint Phinney Cottage! We were not aware that there was a problem with the bedroom vent until we received your comments. We had the vent repaired and it is now working properly. We apologize for your discomfort and would have sent a technician to the house immediately if you had called to inform us. The upstairs is indeed a bit tight for adults which is why our website clearly states that the ceilings are low and best suited for children, not adults. We appreciate your comments on the pans; we will definitely make improvements and purchase new pans for the home.
Other properties in Seattle would suit our desire for a pleasant stay better. This one did not work well for us as the upstairs was completely unusable for anyone - including a visiting grandchild. Therefore we had one person on the couch in the living room and an adult and a child in a bed. Way too inconvenient for the price.
